Bright Data Pricing Breakdown: How Much Does It Really Cost in 2026?

Quick Answer

Bright Data does not have one price. Its public 2026 catalog uses four different billing units: bandwidth, allocated IPs, successful requests, and successful records.

For raw proxies, Bright Data Residential Proxies have an $8/GB pay-as-you-go list price. On August 24, 2026, the page displayed a 50% coupon rate of $4/GB. Its residential monthly commitments were $499 for 141 GB, $999 for 332 GB, and $1,999 for 798 GB under the displayed promotion. ISP proxies started at $18/month for 10 shared IPs or $35/month for 10 dedicated IPs, while datacenter proxies started at $14/month for 10 shared IPs or $22/month for 10 dedicated IPs. Bandwidth-priced ISP and datacenter access started at $8/GB and $0.60/GB, respectively.

The headline price is not always the effective price. If you buy the $499 residential plan but use only 50 GB, you have paid $9.98 for each gigabyte actually consumed. Bright Data says active monthly commitments do not roll over. Its “unlimited” ISP and datacenter plans also have a 100 GB monthly fair-use allowance per IP; traffic beyond the combined allowance is billed at the current pay-as-you-go rate.

Bright Data's current proxy catalog does not publish a separate Mobile Proxy price. The old mobile product and pricing URLs redirect to general pages that list Residential, ISP, and Datacenter products, while current documentation still refers to Mobile zones. Treat mobile availability and pricing as unconfirmed publicly, and get written confirmation from Bright Data before budgeting for them.

Managed products use different meters. Web Unlocker, SERP API, and Web Scraper API each advertise a 5,000-unit monthly free tier and pay-as-you-go pricing of $1.50 per 1,000 successful requests or records. Browser API starts at $8/GB. These products are separate from raw proxy traffic and should not be added to a proxy budget unless the workflow actually uses them.

This is not an apples-to-apples product leaderboard. Ten allocated ISP IPs, 100 GB of rotating residential traffic, 100,000 successful SERP requests, and 100 GB of remote-browser traffic solve different problems. Choose the delivery layer first, then compare its plans.

How Bright Data Pricing Works

Bright Data combines proxy infrastructure with managed web-access and data-delivery products. Its price depends on how much of the collection stack it operates for you.

A raw proxy provides a network route; a managed API performs more retrieval or extraction work. That is why $4/GB cannot be compared directly with $1.50 per 1,000 successful requests.

If you are not sure which network category fits the target, first choose the proxy type for the workload. Paying for a more expensive IP type does not automatically improve a job that needs browser rendering, structured extraction, or a target-specific API.

Bright Data's rotating residential network is billed by traffic. Its public page advertises country, state, city, ZIP code, and ASN targeting without a separate geography fee.

The live page required coupon code `RESIGB50` for the promotional rate. Because the public page can change and the visible text does not fully explain every eligibility and renewal condition, confirm the discount duration in checkout before using it for an annual forecast.

When Does a Residential Commitment Beat PAYG?

Against the displayed $4/GB promotional PAYG rate, each commitment has a simple direct break-even point:

These thresholds compare each plan directly with promotional PAYG. They do not model every possible upgrade, overage, custom quote, or coupon restriction.

At 100 GB, the promotion makes PAYG $99 cheaper than the $499 commitment. At 125 GB, the plan becomes $1 cheaper and still has 16 GB available. The plan's advertised $3.50/GB is therefore meaningful only when usage is close to the allowance.

Do not combine current promotional allowances with the standard $8/GB rate to predict post-promotion savings. Both the unit price and included allowance can change when an offer ends. Re-read the plan card or contract before renewal.

How Residential Bandwidth Is Counted

Bright Data's billing FAQ says bandwidth is based on data transmitted through the proxy peer and measured down to the megabyte without rounding each request up to a larger unit. Its public pricing FAQ further describes the total as request headers and body plus response headers and body.

That means a 5 MB page is not necessarily a 5 MB job. Retries, redirects, API calls, images, fonts, video, screenshots, and repeated browser navigation can increase billed traffic. A browser worker that downloads 20 MB to extract a 2 KB price still consumes roughly the full transferred amount. Block unnecessary assets when they are not required for accurate rendering, but verify that doing so does not change the returned experience.

What Happened to Bright Data Mobile Proxy Pricing?

Bright Data's current proxy catalog lists Residential, ISP, and Datacenter products but no separate Mobile plan. Its former mobile pricing and product URLs now redirect to general pages. However, the current Bright Data Mobile documentation still explains Mobile zones and configuration.

That does not prove that every existing Mobile contract has ended. It means there is no current standalone public rate or clear self-service offer to use in a 2026 budget. Existing customers may have account-specific access, and enterprise buyers may be able to request a quote. Do not reuse an older $8, $8.40, or $9/GB figure without written confirmation.

The fair-use allowance is pooled by network type across zones: 10 ISP IPs provide 1,000 GB that can be split across them. Shared allocations cost less; dedicated allocations are exclusive. Neither provides unlimited rotation across the entire ISP pool.

The bandwidth plan provides a rotating shared pool; the per-IP plan provides a known allocation. For example, 10 shared ISP IPs cost $18 and include 1,000 GB of fair use. At 1,100 GB, the extra 100 GB costs $800 at the published $8/GB overage rate, producing an $818 bill. Traffic does not stop automatically at the threshold. That price covers 10 fixed shared identities, not 1 TB of pool-wide rotation.

The same 100 GB/IP rule applies. With 10 shared IPs, 1,100 GB would cost the $14 base fee plus $60 for 100 GB of overage, or $74 total. That can be economical when 10 datacenter identities work for the target, but it does not provide residential rotation.

Bright Data rounds the displayed TB allowances and unit rates, so confirm the exact byte allowance at checkout. Against $0.60/GB PAYG, the $499, $999, and $1,999 plans break even at about 832 GB, 1,665 GB, and 3,332 GB. Datacenter is the cheapest raw option when hosting-network IPs work; retries and blocks can erase that advantage on other targets.

Bright Data Managed Scraping Product Pricing

Bright Data also sells products that manage more of the retrieval or extraction process. They are separate from raw proxy access and use different billing events.

At $1.50 per 1,000 successful units, 100,000 cost $150 and roughly 333,000 cost $499.50. The $499 plans become relevant around that volume, although their exact allowances differ. The real comparison is whether managed delivery saves enough retries, browser compute, parser maintenance, and engineering time to justify more vendor spend.

Bright Data also prices Crawl API, Scraper Studio, Datasets, and MCP separately. Model them only if the workflow uses them; they are not hidden add-ons to a raw proxy plan.

Five Bright Data Billing Rules That Change the Final Cost

1. Commitments Expire on a Calendar-Month Cycle

Bright Data's usage documentation says active monthly commitments do not roll over. Billing follows calendar months in UTC, with proration when a commitment begins mid-month. A plan sized for peak traffic can therefore be wasteful during a quieter month.

2. Promotions Need a Separate Forecast

The Residential page displayed a 50% coupon when checked. Bright Data's billing documentation also describes a first-deposit match of up to $500 that expires after 90 days. Do not assume coupons, trial credit, and matched funds can be combined. Record eligibility, duration, renewal price, and expiration separately.

3. “Unlimited” Stops Meaning No Overage After 100 GB/IP

Each shared or dedicated ISP or datacenter IP contributes 100 GB to its network's monthly fair-use pool. Bright Data sends threshold alerts but does not automatically stop traffic; excess usage is billed at the current PAYG rate. Removing IPs also reduces the allowance immediately.

4. Account Controls Are Not a Perfect Circuit Breaker

Bright Data says spend limits can be evaluated in 15-minute intervals, allowing a fast job to exceed its nominal cap before suspension. Use an application-side limit when that burst matters. The payment documentation also lists a $5 monthly fee for every zone beyond the first 50.

5. Trials, Refunds, and Target Access Have Conditions

Subscription fees are generally non-refundable, and promotional funds are non-refundable. Bright Data's account FAQ describes a seven-day Playground and, where available, a limited trial with $5 in proxy credit after payment verification. Limited accounts can face rate and top-up limits. Some targets also require permission or a different product, so validate eligibility before choosing between per-GB and per-request billing.

How to Calculate the Real Bright Data Cost

Use the formula that matches the product, then normalize everything to a business outcome.

For bandwidth products, collect the bytes Bright Data reports rather than estimating only from saved HTML. For managed APIs, distinguish submitted jobs, successful billable units, and records that pass your own validation. A vendor can successfully deliver a response that is still unusable for a particular business rule.

Three Practical Cost Scenarios

Small Residential Pilot: 20 GB

At the current $4/GB promotion, the proxy charge is $80. At the $8/GB list rate, it is $160. The $499 plan is not economical for this volume unless the account needs other contracted terms not represented by bandwidth alone.

Steady Residential Workload: 130 GB

Promotional PAYG costs $520. The $499 plan includes 141 GB, so it is $21 cheaper if the coupon and allowance apply. If actual use falls to 90 GB, PAYG costs $360 while the commitment remains $499. Forecast variance matters more than the 50-cent difference between the advertised unit rates.

Ten Shared ISP IPs With a Traffic Spike

The base price is $18 and the combined fair-use allowance is 1,000 GB. At 1,050 GB, 50 GB is overage. At the published $8/GB ISP PAYG rate, the bill becomes $418. A 5% traffic overrun has increased the invoice by more than 22 times because the overage rate is high relative to the per-IP base fee.

These calculations exclude taxes, custom contract terms, optional features, compute, storage, and internal engineering.

Is Bright Data Expensive?

Bright Data is expensive when the comparison is limited to raw rotating residential bandwidth. Its $8/GB list rate and $4/GB displayed promotion sit above several low-cost providers. Its lowest displayed residential unit rate also requires a $1,999 monthly payment and near-full use of a 798 GB allowance.

Bright Data can be cost-effective when its broader platform replaces work the buyer would otherwise build. Granular targeting, allocated ISP and datacenter choices, hosted browsers, successful-delivery APIs, account controls, enterprise support, and custom contracts can have more value than the raw bandwidth rate for a large organization.

The per-IP ISP and datacenter plans can also be very inexpensive for high-throughput jobs that need only a small fixed pool. Their headline economics should not be generalized to workloads that need a large rotating residential network.

There is no universal answer without target testing. Compare:

  • valid-record rate rather than HTTP 200 rate;
  • p50 and p95 latency;
  • bytes billed per valid record;
  • retries and challenge responses;
  • location and ISP accuracy;
  • session continuity;
  • browser and compute cost;
  • engineering and on-call time;
  • unused commitment and overage exposure.

How to Test Bright Data Before Committing

Run a bounded pilot with representative targets rather than a generic IP-check page.

  1. Define a valid result, including market, page type, required fields, freshness, and rejection conditions.
  2. Test easy, typical, and protected pages with the lowest-cost eligible product.
  3. Set both account and application-side limits because the vendor limit can lag.
  4. Record billable bytes or outputs, retries, compute cost, and location accuracy from the dashboard and your own logs.
  5. Repeat at production-like concurrency, then calculate cost per valid result after excluding challenges, wrong markets, duplicates, and incomplete records.
  6. Before upgrading, confirm the promotion duration, allowance, overage rate, cancellation timing, refund terms, and target permissions.
